Wolfgang Gallery is proud to announce our participation in the The Armory Show in New York. In 2025, Focus will highlight artists and galleries of the American South—a vital region to the American art landscape, and home to some of the country’s most celebrated artists—investigating the region as a nexus for diverse populations and a pillar in contemporary American art.

Our presentation is Aineki Traverso’s new body of work. Traverso, (b. 1991) is a painter based in Atlanta, Georgia and a current resident in the Studio Artist Program at Atlanta Contemporary. Traverso is a 2024 recipient of the Artadia Award as well as the organization’s inaugural SEEN Award. In her new body of work for The Armory Show, Traverso employs her filmmaking background to provide a conceptual and material foundation for a phenomenological approach to painting.

Traverso’s new paintings derive from a personal archive that includes inherited and found materials, the foundation of which relies on thousands of family photos that span generations and homelands and contain multitudes of histories, memories, and fantasies.
